Luther Frank
Light Artist/Production Designer
Bio:
Luther Frank is a New York City–based lighting artist, scenographer, and production designer working at the intersection of live performance, immersive art, and technology. With a background in theatre, opera, and dance, Luther brings a multidisciplinary lens to storytelling through light and space. Their design work ranges from performances at Lincoln Center to runways for New York Fashion Week and even summits at the United Nations.
Notable collaborations include Drift: Fragile Future by Studio Drift at The Shed, Technoechophenomena with Moses Sumney at Pioneer Works, and lighting support for James Turrell and other artists at Superblue Miami.
As a lighting director, Luther has lit speciality performances for Alicia Keys, Lizzo, Meghan Trainor, Ludacris, and more, with credits at David Geffen Hall, Carnegie Hall, and many iconic New York venues. They regularly design for immersive experiences at venues such as Mercer Labs, as well as their own independent installations such as Chasing Light at Performance Space NY.
Luther's work gravitates toward experiential art, eccentric design, and large-scale architectural lighting—any projects that blur the boundary between performance and environment.
