Colleen Doherty

Lighting Designer

Bio:

Colleen's love of lighting design is rooted in the power of storytelling and its ability to change the world. The lighting design of a show creates the air that characters breathe---the audience breathes that same air and is pulled into the world of the play.

She is a Florida born, New York based Lighting Designer with a Master of Fine Arts in Lighting Design from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. Colleen has worked as an Associate and Assistant Lighting Designer on Broadway and Off-Broadway, and made her regional theatre Lighting Design debut at Hartford Stage in January 2023 with a new play, Espejos:Clean. Colleen recently made her Off-Broadway Lighting Design debut with a new musical, Ghost of John McCain, at Soho Playhouse in September 2024.

Prior to attending graduate school Colleen worked as the Resident Lighting Designer and Assistant Master Electrician at the Orlando Shakespeare Theatre in Orlando, Florida. She is a proud member of USA 829.
