Thomas Cowdery

Theatre Consultant

Bio:

Thomas Cowdery is a theatre consultant, designer, and technical drafting professional with a background built through years of hands on work in live performance spaces, installation, and project delivery. Based in the Seattle area, his work sits at the intersection of theatre design, rigging, lighting systems, documentation, and field coordination. He brings a practical understanding of how theatres are actually used, how systems go together, and how design decisions affect the people who have to build, maintain, and operate them.

Thomas has worked across consulting, system integration, and production environments, supporting projects from early planning through construction and final field review. His experience includes theatrical lighting and rigging systems, drafting and detailing, consultant coordination, shop drawing review, site visits, and owner and architect communication. He is particularly interested in the point where creative intent meets real world constructability, budget, schedule, and long term usability.

His background also includes touring, venue work, and installation support, giving him a grounded perspective on the needs of technicians, operators, and end users. He is known for being direct, collaborative, and solutions oriented, with a strong respect for both the design process and the realities of the field.

At the core of his work is a belief that theatre spaces should be functional, durable, and thoughtfully designed for the artists and crews who rely on them every day. He brings experience, clarity, and a working knowledge of how performance spaces succeed in practice.
