Bio:
Mike Wood is an award-winning lighting designer whose work spans across the globe. He has established a name and reputation for himself as a passionate artist who values the blending of art, technology, and science in a highly collaborative production environment. Mike showcases his work and experiences through his social media and other online presence, striving to be a resource for early career designers and students in the aspects of a career in the entertainment industry that aren’t usually taught in school. His unique approach of not only showing his work, but the behind the scenes process, the nitty-gritty technical details, and his life outside of the theater have been an inspiration for many young people who are starting out. Recent notable projects include Dungeons & Dragons: The Twenty-Sided Tavern, which is currently on tour throughout the US and previously had a yearlong run Off-Broadway, as well as at the Sydney Opera House; Rogers: The Musical for Marvel Studios/Hawkeye; The Boy Who Loved Batman; The Hot Wing King, and countless others.
A passionate educator, Mike is currently serving as Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre at Kennesaw State University where he has taught Visual Imagination, Stagecraft, and Lighting Programming. He has also taught at Marymount Manhattan College, Collegiate School NY, Hillsborough Community College, and Blake School of the Arts.
