Bio:
MICHAEL SALVATORE COMMENDATORE (Projection Designer) Originally from Rhode Island, Michael lived in Chicago for 7 years and currently lives in Massachusetts with his amazing wife, Katie, and their lovable cats, Sebastian and JJ. For over a decade, Michael has traveled around the country designing for theatre, opera, dance, installations and more at places such as the Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre, Lookingglass Theatre, Arizona Opera, The Public Theatre, Minneapolis Children’s Theater, Buck’s County Playhouse, The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, Bay Street Theatre, The Cape Playhouse, The Great Northern Festival, Spoleto Festival, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Music Theatre Wichita, Portland Stage, Yale Repertory Theatre, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and more. Additionally, Michael has taught various classes and workshops at Yale, Depaul University, University of Chicago, and The University of Cincinnati. He also received 2 Jeff awards for Best Projection Design in Chicago, One for Iraq But Funny (2025) and one with Co designer Rasean Davonte Johnson for their work in It Came From Outer Space the Musical (2022).
