Bio:
Manuel Avila is a senior event producer, technical production leader, and Production Director with more than 25 years of experience in live events, touring, and audiovisual production across Canada, the U.S., and Mexico.
As Production Director for 2 Rivers Remix Society, an Indigenous-led nonprofit in British Columbia, Manuel leads the technical production of live events in remote First Nations communities. His work combines professional touring systems, including StageLine staging, d&b audiotechnik sound, LED video, and modern lighting, with electric vehicles, modular battery storage, and off-grid power strategies.
Manuel has helped develop and field-test production systems that operate without diesel generators, requiring careful power budgeting, load management, logistics, and deployment planning in challenging environments.
His work also integrates Indigenous youth training directly into live productions, building technical skills and community capacity. His philosophy is simple: technology is a bridge, connecting innovative production with sustainability, culture, and community.
