George Tellos

Bio:

George Tellos – Lighting Designer

George Tellos is an internationally recognized lighting designer, born in Frankfurt, Germany in 1974, where he was raised. He studied Theater Arts at the Department of Theater Studies at Universität des Saarlandes (Germany) and at the National University of Athens (Greece).

In 2009, he founded LIGHTING ART, an international lighting design company with offices in Athens, Frankfurt, and Riyadh, specializing in architectural lighting and large-scale entertainment productions.

His architectural portfolio includes high-end private residences and villas worldwide (Singapore, Nairobi, Hamburg, Mykonos, Riyadh), luxury hospitality projects, landmark cultural and public spaces, and major institutions. He has also designed lighting for religious buildings, mosques, theaters (Katara Theaters A & B, Qatar), and urban developments including Ellinikon Experience Park and TELEKOM HQ.

In live events and entertainment, Tellos has delivered lighting design for large-scale productions worldwide, including over 40 events for the Royal Family of Bahrain, high-profile international weddings, and global festivals.

His work spans opera, theatre, and music across Europe, Asia, Middle East, USA, Canada, Cuba. In Greece, he has extensively worked in Epidaurus, Herodeion, and Megaron Concert Hall. He has also contributed lighting design for multiple Eurovision Song Contest national delegations.

In sports, he has designed lighting for major global events including the Sochi Winter Olympics (2014), FIBA Opening and Closing Ceremonies (Athens, Malaga, Singapore, Berlin, Belgrade, Jeddah), FIFA Club World Cup Saudi Arabia (2023), Dakar Rally (Jeddah), and major football finals.

In fashion, art, and culture, he has collaborated with major fashion houses such as Valentino and Chanel. His art installations have been featured in Dubai Light Festival (2019–2021), while his project “Reflections Breakups” won 1st Prize at Luminale Frankfurt (2016). He has also contributed to major exhibitions, including Takashi Murakami’s “Ego” (Museum of Islamic Art, Doha), Noor Riyadh Festival (2023), and Manzar Exhibition at the National Museum of Qatar (2024).

His television and film work includes international productions, music awards, and collaboration with Amazon Prime for the series “Daisy Jones & The Six” (2023).

Tellos has also represented Greece internationally through lighting design for national pavilions at EXPO Dubai, Shanghai, Hanover and Lisbon.

With a multidisciplinary approach bridging architecture, performance, and large-scale event production, George Tellos continues to shape contemporary lighting design on a global level.
