Andy Schmitz

Bio:

Andy Schmitz is a trusted circus rigger, and a rigging specialist with Chicago Flyhouse.  He has been working backstage for over 30 years, the last 15 of which he has specialized in circus and
acrobatic rigging.

Andy's experience spans everything from Las Vegas specticle shows, touring circus under a big top, ware-house fringe shows, hand operated & automated performer flying.  Throughout all of those niche fields of rigging, one element is constant: all of them use rope and knots.

Andy writes a quarterly knot article called "Knot the Point" in the ESTA Protocol journal.  As a certified knot nerd, if you catch Andy on the trade show floor, or at cocktail hour, bring a bit of rope and he's guaranteed to show you some knot "party tricks."
