Entertainment rigging is a black hole of misconceptions, akward line items and dubious busines models. I would like to make the entire process, from becoming a production rigger to hiring one easier to understand.

Why does a rigger expect to be paid so much? Why is he so grumpy (especially when he's being paid so much)? Where do these people come from? Why can't my insurance broker seem to find the policy I need to hire a rig team? How did Justin Timberlake send 200+ points in a few hours and that graduation thing last month took all day to build a 30 point show? Why does it seem like only unimpressive riggers are applying for my full-time position? How can I make the yelling stop?

My career has taken me from humble beginnings, through some of the most ambitious builds in our industry with my company Gravity Works, I am uniquely positioned to shed light on the dark art of rigging and I plan to share these insights In a facinating and entertaining way at the next LDI.
