A follow-up to ETC’s well-received Layers of Light presentation, Fifty Shades of R80 continues the discussion of how and why stage lighting is changing with the advent of LED-powered fixtures. New this year is additional material about LEDs. How long do they last…really? And how do we talk about their performance?

Color specialist Wendy Luedtke will explore the theory and sophisticated control that goes into LED-based additive color mixing, with the goal of helping lighting professionals better use the wonderfully variable—but not always intuitive—color capabilities of LED-powered stage lighting.

Saturday, November 18, 12:00pm-1:00pm

Innovative new radio technology has the ability to carry much more data while using less radio energy. This will lead to a lighting world where every DMX lighting fixture contains a tiny, inexpensive DMX/RDM receiver chip, and more and more of our shows and permanent installations are run without data wires. This session describes the benefits to lighting users as larger wireless systems are scaled up, how this is possible in an already crowded radio spectrum and the unique advantages to using a wireless system rather than a wired DMX system.

Speaker: Gary Fails, president, City Theatrical
